The governments cannot control the PSCs?!

The conflict in Libya is has escalated to a new degree. Recent source reports have revealed that Italy and France have consistently to been supplying arms to the Government of National Accord of Libya (GNA), despite the arms embargo being imposed by the United Nations. The protection of the arm shipments has been tasked to European Private Security Companies, namely Aegis Defence - a UK based company - and Trigon Limited, registered in France.

Both security companies officially offer the services of recruitment of personnel and manned protection.

Both companies have found mutual interests in Libya as they are in the role of a crucial intermediary between the French and Italian governments and the GNA of Libya. This situation raises a new set of concerns in the international community, as the PSCs remain one of the legal grey spots of international legislation. It seems that the governments are unable to regulate the companies, registered in their country – or may be using PSCs as a way to cover their tracks conducting illegal actions.
