Exotic fruits and europolitics

The first day has come to an end. But the mock debate in the Foreign Affairs Council unfortunately hasn't. Instead it has left us without a conclusion, therefore we still don't know should the pineapple pizza be banned or not.

Even though the FAC consists mostly out of first-timers, this did not effect the efficiency of the mock debate. The delegates took their role seriously and explained in detail their point of view, that is, the point of view of their assigned country.

Those, who wanted to ban exotic fruit on Italian specialties, were really pleased to find out that for lunch we did not have to eat pineapple pizza.

The Workshop gave us an insight into topics of different councils and points for Salient games encouraged us to use the hashtags #Salient2018 #SalientBlue,Red,Yellow.

The first day was concluded with bingo and liquor tasting in park Tivoli, with unavoidable bonding ingredient.

On the more political note that started to develop in the committee, the US President Donald Trump still strongly insists on improving the defense system of the European countries. He believes that the US can defend itself, but doubts the Europe can do the same. Since Europe hasn't made any major improvements on this field, Trump accuses Europe of stepping away from NATO. Moreover, it is presumed that Germany and France are pursuing risky and debatable policies within the EU. It is yet to be seen how the honorable representatives will address mentioned concerns.

In other news, a 93-year-old former president of Italy Giorgio Napolitano has passed away. Numerous world leaders have expressed their condolences and announced their intention of attending the state funeral.
