General Haftar speaks to his people
Libya’s unsettling atmosphere has gained a new meaning after a lengthy period of silence from the countries’ leading factions. In an address to the masses that have gathered on the main square of Benghazi, Mr. Khalifa Haftar reaffirmed his commitment to bring stability and prosperity to a country, which has all but lost the aforementioned traits. As Mr. Haftar delivered his vision of Libya’s future in several superlatives, the crowds listening cheered. Especially when the self-proclaimed president denounced the undemocratic government placed by imperialist forces of this world and promised to liberate the people from foreign rule and give them a voice as he did when Mr. Gaddafi was dissolved of power.
The silence of Libya was one followed by a storm of new uncertainty. No one can be sure what could follow after the newly established climate of the North-African country. In the minds of the Libyan leaders there is only one goal.
