Mocks, crises and the first day of the UN Security Council session
On the April 9th, 2018, an introductory session of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) was held in Ljubljana, starting at 2:15, local time. The topic of the debate was 'Is it coming home?' and there were 13 delegations present, comprising the absence of Bolivia's delegation. One of the most surprising occurrences was a heated short discussion between China and Kuwait. The Kuwaiti delegate was accused of inappropriate physical representation, considering the opinion of the delegation of China, which was a deviation of the topic of the discussion. Moreover, the delegation of United Kingdom surprised the public by its support towards the Croatian football team in winning the football world championship. There were a few expected commentaries from the part of the delegates, such as the one from the United States of America, who underlined the banality of European football, saying that "real football is only American football".
Although many concerns were raised whether debate in the upcoming days will continue in the same pace, after crisis developments were presented, only remaining question lies in readiness and willingness of the members to resolve the dramatic situations awaiting them.
